Week no. 4...

Monday we had a public holiday. What was quite good to get some sleep of the last weekend. For the noon we girls planned to go to the beach but then it started to rain. So we spent the day at home, having a big discussion about where the new interns will stay and what needs to be repaired and such things. The point is that I live in a house with 2 apartments. The one I live in is ok for Mauritian standards but the other one, where the four Indians live in, is so bad. When you see it you will leave immediately. They don’t have any doors, some rooms don’t even have light or a window and then there are only beds and nothing else. The fact is that the interns from the project before us lived upstairs with 20!!! People at the same time and I can’t imagine how they lived there. But the next time I’ll take some pictures from up there so that you can get a better impression of what I mean. The next thing with this flat is that already 5 times the water pipe was broken and the whole apartment was under water. Furthermore the rain comes in their rooms, the door of the shower opens whenever it wants to open and you can lock it only from the outside and things like this. And now no one feels responsible to clean or repair the house. The main members of Aiesec want to place more people up there and the no how it looks like because for them only quotes count and not the quality of living. I’m really so happy and lucky to live downstairs!!!
For Tuesday all interns were invited from the sponsors of our project for a dinner. So when we came there (to a really nice Chinese restaurant) we didn’t expect a great impressive dinner. But yeah, you can’t imagine what we got. After the second course I looked into the menu to see if it was the last course and guess what I saw, it was the second of nine!!!!! courses :D And we really got everything and such great Chinese food that I haven’t had before!!! Wow, I didn’t even know that Chinese food looks like this. We got fish, prawns, duck, chicken, lamb, and more different stuff that was soooo delicious J J J And of course we got wine the whole evening and the wine was also very good. And in the end we were allowed to take all the food that was over J
Wednesday we got a new intern from Luxembourg and they dropped her at our house, which is already full full! Zuhayr wanted to place her here as well and started a discussion at 10 pm!!! And that in front of her. That was such a stupid situation. She really felt uncomfortable.. but in the end she went to the other house in Beau Bassin. Moreover I had to be at my NGO the whole day but it was holiday so no school classes came and I sat there for 7 hours having nothing to do. That was really bad!!
The next day wasn’t that spectacular. Work was boring again, nothing to do. In the evening we made water pipe and watched a bad movie, the tourist. Oh man, that was such a bad movie :D
At work the next day one of the patients gave me a CD with the best love songs of the 50s and 60s as a present so that I won’t forget him J He is a about 60 year old man who brings such CDs all the time J After work we went to Port Louis to have some cocktails. In one hotel there was happy hour. Hihi… I got a lychee and a pineapple caipirhina. They were soooo good.
The next morning I had to work but only till 11.30 am and it has been my last working Saturday juhu!!! After that I went home and Varden picked me up to pick up the others. Then we went to the southwest. We went along the coast to Chamarel. There are waterfalls and the seven-colored earth. It was really cool but it’s the same with the pyramids, you see them for 5 minutes and it’s enough ;) After that we went on to an energetical vortex. It’s like a real strong meditation point where all the energies from the universe enter the earth. So we lie down, meditate a bit and went on to the Rochester Falls. Margot, Yara and Syro jumped down. I’ll do it the next time when it’s not so cold :P Back home we had a farewell-diner in an Indian restaurant for Syro. Later the others went to Grand Baie to go out. I stayed at home because I didn’t feel very good.
The next morning Syro left and we went with Aiesec members to the south in a park. There a guide showed us the park and weird fruits which were really good. After that we had a great Mauritian lunch which looked awful but was so tasty J The rest of the day we spent in the park, lying down and relaxing…
